HELP! HARD DRIVE CRASHED! As you know, I've been collecting military spouse's stories of deployment's "silver lining" for several weeks now for an article that will appear in Military Spouse magazine in December. I know several of you contributed.

On Thursday my computer completely blew up and they can't seem to recover the emails with the deployment blessings and photos you all sent me. I am writing to ask (BEG!) you to resend them. If you didn't yet contribute, PLEASE DO! The article is due to the editor on Tuesday and I would like 10-12 people to share.

Hereis the statement about what I need.

If you’re willing to share, please send a description of how deployment has
changed your life for the better (50 words or less). You might write about

- something you learned about yourself, your spouse, or your relationship as a
result of your spouse’s deployment
- opportunities or new experiences you had as a result of your spouse’s
deployment (or new friends you made)
- qualities you developed in yourself or in your relationship as a result of
your spouse’s deployment

Your description should be upbeat and positive, and it can be serious or
lighthearted – that’s up to you! Please include your name, your branch of
service, your current duty station, and a casual photo of yourself (something
like you’d put on Facebook, not a formal portrait).

well, considering his connection is so low (idk the terminology, basically at home here i'm working with 70mbh -or something- and he's workin with 12!) lol oh well! we get to do video chats at the bde sometimes so that's cool! I love that-its real time and I can see his face so much better! We have another one coming up, I'm so excited! Also, I'm tying up all the last bits of paperwork for my enlistment. Then a PT test so I can get promoted b4 I ship.

Thanks Mrs. Gary....that answered my ? about the cost. We're having a video conference thing tomorrow so that'll be good. The Msgr cam is getting a little annoying, thought I'm thankful for that at least! I'm downloading now!

Skype is really kool! My husband is over seas so i can talk to him and see him for absolutely FREE! And the video moves a lot more fluently with out delays! Its free to use as long as its skype user to skype user.. so as long as both parties download it you'll be fine!

I dont know anything about skype but have been curious too. I feel your frustration on the freezing cam. Its quite annoying and time consuming. I look forward to hearing. Thanks for bringing it up.

okay i just came across someone's blog and was pretty surprised to find EXACT FLY DATES and return dates.....can we all take a moment to review OPSEC. Seriously, ask your soldier/seaman/airman/marine/guardsman about this! You'd be surprised how the little things we do, say, type, and even insinuate violate the policy. Countdowns are cute but can be dangerous. We pray every day that our soldiers are clear of harm's way...let's make sure we don't put them there!

uuummm...so using the webcam is annoying bc it keeps freezing and/or not working. SO I thought about Skype. Anyone used it? Is it 100% free?? Looks to me like downloading it is free but USING it is not...? Any input?
